About this guide

Who pays for Around the Block

Around the Block is funded by a single source: commission earned on the paid links of the home page. Those links, each marked Ad, lead to a private online casino partner.

Where the Ad links sit

Outside the home page, the site carries no paid links. Each of the three carries an Ad label. Their places are the menu, a block set right after the opening screen, and a spot near the foot of the page. Venue pages, the maps and this page carry none.

The three of them go to one partner, an online casino run privately. A commission comes to the site from that partner. The partner can change, so it is not named here.

That partner is not PlayNow.com. In British Columbia, PlayNow.com, a BCLC operation, is the single site where online gambling is legal. The partner is not licensed by the province.

What never pays

Venues never pay this site, and neither do TransLink, PlayNow, BCLC or the help services. The restaurants, hotels, parks and shops named on the maps do not pay either. Links to a venue's own site are not paid links.

Readers get no rewards of any kind from the site. There are no forms, no comments and no newsletter. Readers are asked for nothing. A tiny cookie-free tally logs each view and passes the page viewed, network address and browser to a separate analytics provider. A theme choice stays only in the browser tab, and the chosen walking time stays only in the browser.
